It has been a while since a last update and I've been busy on quite a few things.
So the Indian Mutiny project has come to a close, as my enthusiasm after a year of painting for this has understandably dwindled. What a year it has been in terms of output though, it definitely kept my attention. I would like to go back at some point and redo the basing or create some movement trays for Sharp Practice, but this will happen when I feel like it. I'll probably put another game on soon for the Blog.
I've been slowly knocking through my American Civil War stuff and am putting the finishing touches on my "starting" Confederate selection. This is compromised of the Elements from Hoods Division prior to Antietam (18th Georgia, 1st Texas, 4th Texas)
1. 1st Texas : 36 Models total, including Line Infantry and Skirmishers - Done
2. 4th Texas : 29 Models total, including Line Infantry - WIP
3. 18th Georgia : 26 Models total, including Line Infantry and Skirmishers - Done
Only thing left on the painting desk is the 4th Texas which I am smashing through the base colors for so expect to have them done in the next week or so.
Union troops are also underway with my big Irish Brigade in various stages, but I'm going to aim to tackle these in January. Then we can finally get some gaming on the go!
1st Texas
4th Texas WIP
18th Georgia
In other news I have been going ahead with more Battletech and had a few games with close friends. Painting has been a nice refresher between larger projects and I'll be looking at keeping this going for next year along with some Battle Reports.
2nd St. Ives Lancers (Capellan Confederation)
Finally the much hard decision of what to tackle next year and there's been a few things floating around in my head.
1. 28mm Samurai (Ronin) > I have a lot of Samurai terrain and have existing Warbands but would love to dip into some gaming again for this. Additionally small projects is a bonus!
2. War of the Roses (Lion Rampant) > I usually don't touch medieval wargaming, with 19th Century warfare being my favorite, but I have been getting slightly enamored by the idea of painting bright colors and lots of plate armor. My negative here is getting my head around the History side of it.
3. War of the Triple Alliance (Sharp Practice or Rebels and Patriots) > Another Sharp Practice project and one I've thought of for ages. Wonderful uniforms, figures and overall seems an interesting period. It certainly helps that I love ACW and this is almost an addition to that, albeit in South America. Negative here would be its another Sharp Practice project and I'd like to try a new ruleset.
4. Napoleonic's (Sharp Practice or another Ruleset) > Always caught my attention as a young lad, but I tended to drift towards later 19th Century conflicts. With that said I just need the spark to hit for this to start.
5. English Civil War (Pikemens Lament) > I've dipped into this before and been to lots of fantastic Museums full of English Civil War artifacts. This time I can focus properly on the project as I already have an understanding of how to paint most units.
6. Sudan/Zulu Wars (The Men who Would be Kings) > Become a recent interest due to a few London Military Museum visits. Would also like to try out these rules, great for solo gaming. Painting some Zulus would be something quite different also.
So that's it from me as of current. I'll update before end of the year with my finished Confederates and will be full speed ahead with projects in the New Year. Maybe even a Youtube Channel might happen!
